Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd is a welcoming faith community serving in downtown Reno, Nevada since 1947.  We are a congregation of the Sierra Pacific Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and a Reconciling in Christ Congregation.

Good Shepherd is a multi-generational Christian church where we practice God’s grace and Christ’s love, reach out to people in need, form faith in people of all ages, and make an effort to welcome all.  We would love to help you belong here, as we continue growing into the community God calls us to be.

Good Shepherd embraces the Mission and Vision of the ELCA:

Our mission
Together in Jesus Christ we are freed by grace to live faithfully, witness boldly and serve joyfully.

Our vision
A world experiencing the difference God’s grace and love in Christ makes for all people and creation.

Our congregational mission:

Connect with others
We are a congregation with a desire to welcome each other; we intend to build connection between individuals and between individuals and various groups within the congregation.

Proclaim the Good News

By proclamation of the Gospel, we intend to pass on God's story through welcoming and relevant programming that connects children and youth to worship and faith formation opportunities.

Welcome the underrepresented

As a congregation, we are committed to welcoming and affirming LGBTQIA+ persons and other marginalized persons, we intend to strive to be more aware of the needs and inclusion of these groups both within and beyond our congregation.

Serve our community

As a congregation, we believe God's love is for all people.  We desire to increase and deepen our community engagement to serve others.
